Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Aging
When considering skin and the aging process, there are two major types of aging to consider — intrinsic and extrinsic aging:

Intrinsic Aging, also know as chronological or natural aging, is caused by changes in the structure and function of skin that occur as we age naturally. Beginning around out mid-20s, physiological changes cause collagen production to slow and skin to loose its elasticity. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly, and the turnover of new cells begins to slow. Additionally, changes in hormone levels reduce the amount of oil produced, resulting in dry, flakey skin. Naturally aged skin is thin and dry with fine lines and wrinkles.

Extrinsic Aging results when exposure to external factors prematurely ages our skin. Numerous factors can negatively affect the skin, the most common of which is sun exposure (extrinsic aging is, therefore, often referred to as photoaging). Other factors include pollution, poor diet, cigarette smoke, stress, and gravity. Environmental exposure can account for over 90% of the visible signs of aging, and results in skin with age spots, blotchy pigmentation, deep wrinkles, and a rough, leathery appearance.

While intrinsic processes mean we cannot stop ourselves from aging, we can age gracefully by caring for our skin and reducing exposure to the harmful factors that cause accelerated aging. Because the skin is an organ that provides an interface between out internal and external environments, it can benefit from products that protect skin and encourage skin regeneration topically, and well as ingested supplements that help maintain healthy system function.

Apriori Beauty has taken advantage of this concept to create the Cellular Age Advantage, a complete internal + external skin care system that addresses the process of aging, not just the symptoms. Lifeoxylin® and Celloxylin® deliver the patent-pending NutrientReservoir™ with ingredients to nourish skin cells from the inside-out and outside-in. By comprehensively addressing the process of aging, not just the symptoms, the Cellular Age Advantage can help you achieve the healthier, more beautiful skin you deserve.
