Rules To Lead By

On the CEO Connect Call earlier this month I discussed the difference between hype and real opportunity. I LOVE our channel of distribution and the true success that it can bring to those who use, love, and share a product with dedication, honesty, and integrity. The current state of our economy and the collapse of numerous opportunities, however, have bred a hype mentality that works really well in times of desperation. Unfortunately many of the hyped up opportunities you come across are short lived and leave people with a feeling that they have been “duped” by the Network Marketing industry; this gives an industry that is able to help so many people achieve wonderful things a bad name.

At Apriori Beauty, a real opportunity exists to build and sustain a successful a business. One thing that I know that I know that I know is that starting a business may be easy, but working towards success takes time effort, work, consistency, AND most importantly, character and truth. When I think about these values and leading a successful team, I always refer to one of the greatest leaders of all time, legendary basketball coach John Wooden and his set of rules to lead by:

Condition your team to LOVE the struggle. The Team that competes at the highest level loves the thrill. They may have success in their heads, but they have to a love for the effort and the struggle in their hearts.

Remember that success can take months, or years to achieve but it can be undone in minutes. This is why character and moral conditioning is critical to success. A leader must impress upon the team the paramount importance of ownership and personal accountability. You are not only selling a product … more importantly you are selling yourself.

Never allow anyone else to define your success. Only you should define your finish line and your definition of success. Others will attempt to force their definition upon you. Don’t allow them to do it. Define success and how it fits for YOU, YOUR greatness will be the result.

Organizations succeed when they become more than the sum of their players. This is the one real test of any leader — making the whole more than the sum of its parts. No team will consistently succeed unless the leader is able to achieve this critical goal. All for one, one for all! Look up to yourself and set the example, but check your EGO at the door.

At Apriori Beauty we have already proven that you can build a sustainable business without using hyped out marketing tactics and preying on desperation. We have also proven that there is a place for success at all levels and that everyone can be a leader at the level they choose. I encourage you to take these “Rules To Lead By” to heart and implement them in your business today!
